Tor, The Onion Router, technology for a free and borderless internet
Useful to download/view youtube-videos that are blocked in specific countries, or to cross the great firewall of China, or to conceal your identity and traffic movements, or to enable people that do not have uncensored internet access.

I’m only pointing out that anonymity is not that easy. You may now be unconcerned about legality. But “during times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.” (George Orwell)

i guess thats why it is disabled when you run the firefox plugin
the way i got access to videos that are unavailable in my country was to get the link and then download it and watch it from my PC.
apparently best practise would be to use a special installation of firefox which you then only use for tor, a portable version that saves less stuff and doesnt have some features that could be risky. but im not doing anything illegal so anonymity is not my main concern.

I would prefer a technology in which your computer directly connects with one across the world, no satellite or anything in the way of your freedom or bandwidth.
My experience with …
My experience with TOR is that its excruciatingly slow and often fails to connect. I think its very important that the internet stay as uncensored and open as possible – even to stuff I dont like – because the technologies to crack down and block some things, can easily be used to block others, which might see the restriction of sites critical of governments, or posting of sensitive information.
Hopefully there will always be newer software that stays ahead of attempts to restrict access.
